i wouldn't say that i'm on top of world affairs, but top stories I'm aware of dealing with Africa include ethnic warfare between Hutu and Tsutsi, mad cow disease (was that just in England?) or that disease where you're whooped in 24 hours, body turned to mush, Ethiopia famine, and AIDS.

Samir brought up a conspiracy theory he heard about suggesting the world powers introduced AIDS to the African continent as a genocide designed to decimate the inhabitants so that first world powers would have access to all those resources!
